Latest southern cross 2011 news and results

The recent Southern Cross Shield held in Brisbane on Easter/ANZAC long weekend was a resounding success and the trophy was won by New South Wales after a 3 year trophy-less attempts. The whole weekend was a success in terms of clean and exciting football from all sides and commendation goes out to all the players involved.
New South Wales played very professional and claimed the Shield as deserving champions while Central Coast managed to gain runners up at the death after a brilliant and exciting match against Queensland. Joshua Doe won the best and fairest player for Central Coast as well as Australian Player award. Nick Fonti collected the New South Wales Best and Fairest while Anthony Shing collected the Queensland Best and Fairest.
Congratulations to both the New South Wales and Queensland Women’s for their exciting match with the eventual championship going to New South Wales by a close result.
The Southern Cross Shield will now be renamed to Deaf Football Australia Cup from 2012 onwards. We will post details in the newsletter to be released within the next few days. Visit our gallery to see more pictures from the tournament.
We look forward to seeing you all again in Central Coast for the 2012 Deaf Football Australia Cup where the trophy will be up for grabs to the deserving champions of the tournament.
